Abstract submissions are welcome from faculty and researchers, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and community providers. IMPORTANT:
Abstracts' content must comply with all applicable current federal policies . Please revise "Statement Friday, August 15, 2025 Advancing NIH's Mission Through a Unified Strategy" at https://www.nih.gov/about-nih/nih-director/statements/advancing-nihs-mission-through-unified-strategy . *Abstracts that do not comply with these policies will not evaluated. Abstracts must be submitted in English and should follow the guidelines of the Puerto Rico Health Sciences Journal (PRHSJ). No changes can be made after the abstract is submitted. The authors will be notified via email of the status of their abstracts no later than April 8, 2026. The author of the selected abstracts should submit a copy of the poster to be presented in PDF format to karen.pabon@upr.edu by May 1st, 2026 . Please label it using the following filename format "FirstName-LastName_Alliance abstract.pdf", e.g., Karen-Pabon_Alliance abstract.pdf. Authors will be responsible for poster printing costs. Please note that presenting authors or co-authors are required to register for in-person attendance at the Scientific Day, at no cost, and to present their research on the assigned date (May 6, 2026 ). Abstracts will be accepted for consideration with the understanding that they have not been previously published, presented or submitted for publication (in whole or in part) elsewhere . Abstracts must be structured and include clearly labeled sections describing the INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS, and CONCLUSION . Abstracts must not exceed 250 words, excluding the title, authors, affiliations, funding, and clinical trial information (if applicable)]. Note: Abstracts that include tables are limited to 200 words. All abbreviations must be defined at first use. Do not include references. Use single space throughout. Submit abstracts in 12-point font. Recommended fonts include Arial, Times New Roman, or Aptos. Avoid ornate or script fonts. Submit a computer file of the abstract. The file must be in a PC-compatible format, preferably Microsoft Word (*.docx). Abstract must be organized using the following format:
TITLE: (UPPER-CASE LETTERS ONLY, and in bold), with a maximum of 100 characters (excluding spaces). Author(s) : (Upper-lower case letters in italics ) The presenting (first) author must be listed first and underlined . For each author, include first name, middle initial, last name, and highest degree(s) (e.g., MD, PhD, MS). Separate the author's name and degree(s) with a comma; separate multiple authors with a semicolon. Affiliation(s): (Upper-lower case letters) On a new line immediately following the author(s) line, list the institution(s) where the work was performed. If more than one institution is included, indicate each author's affiliation using superscript numbers. The affiliation corresponding to the first (presenting) author must be underlined . Separate institutions with semicolons. BODY OF ABSTRACT: On a new line immediately following the affiliation(s), provide the abstract text using the following bold, upper-case section headers: INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS, and CONCLUSION (header in UPPER-CASE LETTERS ONLY, bold). Each section must begin on a new line. Funding: (Upper-lower case letters, bold). Authors must acknowledge grant or other financial support for the work, if applicable. IRB/IACUC Approval: Include a statement indicating IRB or IACUC approval, as applicable (e.g., "Approved by the IRB and/or IACUC, Protocol #____, [Institution Name]"), or provide a brief exemption statement if the study is exempt. For clinical trials, include a trial registration heading with the name of the trial registry, the registry URL, and the trial registration number.
